Ash, your NETC trained and certified instructor invites you to come and join him in exploring the parks and forests of the Empire State. As a working arborist with excellent teaching skills and a love for all things outdoors makes him an excellent teacher and just the person to enjoy an adventure with.

Types of Climbs

We offer complete classes for Saddle Hunters, Arborists, Tree Workers, Saddle Hunters, and Recreational Tree Climbers. All students are taught how to recognize and report the invasive species that threaten our trees such as the Asian Long Horn Beetle and the Emerald Ash Borer.

Tree Climbing Certification

TREE CLIMBING FOR ABORISTS AND TREE WORKERS

The class is for those who want to work in the trees without ladders and bucket trucks. It stresses the Double Rope Technique (DRT) with an overview of the Single Rope Technique (SRT). The class is 1 day. The day starts off with the basic lessons about safety and technique and then afterward a climb in the trees already set. Then it’s off to learn more about how to select the proper trees; how to throw and set the ropes; what sort of ropes and other equipment is needed; how to tie the proper knots etc , various methods to enter trees and move safely within the canopy are taught.  Additionally Students get to see and try the latest industry equipment for climbing that will allow them to spend their time on the job efficiently. The afternoon is spent practicing and the student gets to use everything they have learned, selecting the tree, throwing and setting the ropes and then you climb the tree using the method you prefer.“ All equipment is provided except work gloves that the student needs to bring.

TREE CLIMBING FOR SADDLE HUNTERS

The class is for those who wish to learn the newest innovation to come to hunting itself and be able to climb easily and safely on their own. It teaches non- invasive methods of climbing that don’t damage trees in any way there by keeping landowners happy. If you can climb a ladder you can rope climb up. Climbers learn methods that have been used for decades throughout the arborist industry to safely climb and be comfortable in trees for hours. This combined with the newest equipment developed in all climbing sports makes for quick and safe ascents into the canopy. The class is 1 day. The day starts off with the basic lessons about safety and technique and then afterward with a climb in the trees that are already set. Then it’s off to learn more about how to select the proper trees; how to set the rope..even in the dark; what sort of rope and other equipment is needed; how to tie the proper knots etc.  That afternoon, you get to use everything you learned, selecting the tree, throwing and setting the ropes and then tying the knots….then you climb the tree you prepared. All equipment is provided except work gloves that the student needs to bring. At the completion of the class students receive picture ID cards and discounts with the major equipment manufacturers.

Learn things such as : How to install a rope when the tree you need doesn’t have a limb or crotch where you need one. What saddles are most comfortable for you. How to install a rope where you want without throwing it.  How to install a rope quietly in the dark and pull your gear up as you need it.  What method uses the pulley affect to make climbing a snap by making you feel stronger and you and your gear much lighter.

RECREATIONAL TREE CLIMBING

The class is for those who wish to learn about the sport itself and be able to climb on their own. It teaches the Double Rope Technique (DRT).  The class is 1 day. The day starts off with the basic lessons about safety and technique and then afterward with a climb in the trees that are already set. Then it’s off to learn more about how to select the proper trees; how to throw and set the ropes; what sort of ropes and other equipment is needed; how to tie the proper knots etc.  That afternoon, you get to use everything you learned, selecting the tree, throwing and setting the ropes and then tying the knots….then you climb the tree you prepared. We also go over the various equipment that is available throughout the arborist industry. All equipment is provided except work gloves that the student needs to bring.

A $50 deposit per person required at time of reservation on line. Balance is due on the day of your class.

What You Can Expect From NETCA Instructors

Our instructors teach everyone from tree workers to those climbing for recreational fun, and Saddle Hunters. Our successful students have included young teens to seniors. If you can climb a ladder you can climb using a rope. Both the Double Rope Technique (DRT) and the SRT (single Rope Technique) are taught in various classes. These techniques are used throughout the arborist and recreational industries and allow you to let go at any time and still maintain your position on the rope.
